Hi
I currently have 2 piggies in a 3 times 4 c and c cage living luxury life floortime daily and constantly wheeking !
NOTE !They are both females !
I love keeping guinea pigs so much i am soon lucking into upgrading thier cage to even bigger ! If i added any more piggies I would have room for 2 more !
My question is if i got 2 more what sex would be best ? How would 4 females go, whats is best thanks in advance !

If you have two sows then you can add either a sow pair or a sow/boar pair. Working would depend on whether they like each other. I think if you’re looking to add more then I would take your existing pair to a rescue where they can be bonded and choose their own friends. If you choose to get a pair from elsewhere to try then have a backup plan in case they don’t get on.

How old are your pair? They can be addictive 😉

Boars are best in pairs but sows can live in quartets or a trio with a neutered boar.

Ideally you rescue date your group to make sure that they are gelling for long term stability. If you get piggies on spec, you will have to have a plan B at the ready, in case the two pairs decide that they are not getting on (usually over a disagreement over the top spot). Character compatibility comes a long way before age and gender - and that is not something you can influence or change.

my pair are 2 years old

Hi, I have just added two sows to my existing sow and neutered boar but the new ones are very laid back piggies and one of them is just 8 months old so neither of them was a threat to my dominant sow.

We tried bonding them with a mum and daughter back in October but it was sadly a failed bond.

It all comes down to character comparability on whether they will get on or not so you are best to take your existing pair to a rescue where they will attempt to bond your existing piggies with a sow or two that they are looking for a home for or have a plan B should things not work out
