My friend is a decorator and he says he has a huge roll of wallpaper left over from a job and it is very absorbent. Could I use this as a liner for my hutch instead of newspaper? Would it be safe? I am quite sceptical ..... I thought I would check here first before he brings it around.

I wouldn't use it to be honest.
Wallpaper is often treated with chemicals to stop it going mouldy in damp environments, as well as to preserve colour etc.
I would be worried about what would happen if a piggie decided to have a nibble.

:agr:i do agree but you could use it like newspaper and put bedding on top.:hmm:

That's what I was thinking of doing. They don't eat the newspaper just the hay on top of it but I was concerned about any fumes that may come off the wallpaper?

As your friend if it is a non or low VOC wallpaper as that is less fumey.
And you do know that you will have to change that every few days right?
