So me and my girlfriend have recently got some guineas and a fleece for them but weren't sure what washing up powder to use on it before they get it. I've read some posts saying non-bip and some saying use bio. Also the fleece is a GuineaDad and says that it should be unscented for them

Welcome to the forum.
Would love to see pics of your piggies.

I don’t use fleece but do have fleece tunnels.
I stick them in an old single duvet cover and use Persia non bio as that what we use for our own laundry.

I’m sure that the fleece experts will have lots of advice

Hi, I Wouldn't say I'm an expert on fleece but do use it a lot. We wash in a non bio detergent, at 60 degrees and put white vinegar in the softener part of the washer drawer. Seems to do the trick

Always use non bio for fleece with no fabric conditioner.Adding vinegar is a good idea too.You can get away with a few quick washes but the fleece will need a 60 degree wash most of the time to kill the bacteria.

Thanks that helps a lot. We've got white wine vinegar as well so saves us a trip.

Attached pics of piggies. They've been here 3 days now and have started popcorning. We're wondering on the age of the bigger one called Nala though. We were told 6 months but thought it could be much older.

Welcome.
I wash all fleece linings and fleece pee pads with detergent and after washing, I leave them in vinegar water for a couple of hours. Right now, I just washed their fleece pee pads and they are soaking in vinegar water. I will drain the vinegar water, then lay them out to dry. I change their fleece pee pads every two days. Their entire cages are washed and wiped with vinegar every 5 days.

I use fleece bedding on both for my Finn and Lara's cages.

I wash my fleece inside a horse wash bag to contain all hairs hay etc. I wash at 60 with non bio Persil or Fairy non bio and use white vinegar in the rinse. Wicks a dream and no smells.
