My guinea pig has been off veg for 3weeks on and off due to soft, smelly clumpy poo every time i give him a tiny bit of veg it just gets worse i have tried fibreplex, pro fibre pellets soup poop taken him to vets twice had his poo tested and nothing found. He is happy eating plenty of hay,dry food and drinking plenty also not losing weight. My worry is he isnt getting enough vit c can i use a childs vitamin c liquid?

Hi!

If you are still feeding pellets, then your piggy won't develop scurvy as they are enriched with vitamin C. Have you considered a digestive support product like a probiotic powder or fibreplex; these products are generally also enriched with vitamin C - but you can always check before you order online.

May I ask which veg you tried him with when you reintroduced it? I hope he’ll be better soon.

I have tried parsly, corriander, kale and greens

Herbs are best as they’re gentler on the stomach. So next time you could start him again on coriander - a sprig a day for maybe 5 days and see how he goes. Then you can try a small piece of pepper on top. I hope he’s better soon ☺️
