We seem to be getting a lot of spam posted on the forum at the moment that contain links to other websites. Please do not click on these links as they contain a virus! I am also aware that a number of members are receiving personal messages with links to websites that again should not be opened.

We will be looking into ways to stop this happening, but in the meantime please be vigilent.

Thats for certain Glynnis and I have faced the mad spammers in hand to keyboard combat. Just do not open it.

do those spam post look genuine or are they fairly easy to spot?

They're usually totally off topic. Random posts about something that has zero bearing on the thread or even guinea pigs. The users tend to be fairly new with no 'other' posts. The member profiles can also have links in that are not appropriate or relative.

It is getting frustrating seeing so much spam, but all you mods are doing a sterling job at catching up and getting rid of all those posts.

I think the reason the posts made by the spammers are entirely off topic is because the ones actually posting are just bots that are programmed to go around forums no matter what it is about and post the fake site or advertisement.
