we will be pimping up our 3-tier cage soon and as it seems that resourcing 4mm correx is getting trickier and trickier I was researching the alternatives. A lot:lose:

I've seen some piggy owners all over the world are using vinyl sticky tiles or linoleum to make waterproof base then covered with fleece or other bedding.... it is a great idea and also far much accessible here in U.K., BUT...

I wanted to check if getting vinyl sticky tiles for flooring or linoleum is definitely ok for the piggies? We use fleece so it will be under a layer of it, however I don't know if it is 100% safe? Is the glue not going to harm them?!?!.. is the rubber not going to release some sort of toxins? What is we cut out linoleum the same way you correx and they decide to chew on the edges ? We have 6 pigs so I thought it's best to check as then having to replace all that for 3 large cages maybe tricky.

Thank you in advance x

I got my correx from there. Great price although postage bumped it up a LOT! I got two sheets so I had spare so I wouldn't have the postage to fear if they chewed it.

Did they deliver it as a flat package? I ordered some 2mm correx and postage was cheap as chips as correx was rolled in a tube... and it's simply just not as good as 4mm one at all...

I have used the protecta board from Wickes and it is quite a good product. I got on well with it and it contains the pigs well in a c and c cage.

Could you not get Perspex from a local hardware shop? I think b and q sell it, I also think that you should be able to get it from ebay.

Probably, but I don't drive so that's why I'm looking online :(
What is protects board made of, sorry I'm ok with DIY but haven't heard of this board (yet) :)
Is it a form of wood? Is it bendable/ will it allow to be shaped like correx is? X

I've just googled it and realised that protecta
Board is just correx. ;)

ive used lino tiles from b&m stores to line my wooden hutch so urine does not soak into the wood.£
1.99 for 8 tiles.worked extremely well,still 2 years old.

I have lined the rabbit shed with lino. Its great. It was cut to size so no edges free for them to nibble!

I have used lino tiles in the past and they did come off at the corners a bit in the damp weather.

Thanks guys, so are there no health risks to do with the glue ( I'm thinking vinyl tiles as well) and the material they are made of?
@Wiebke @pig in the city @VickiA had any of you came accross any issues caused by vinyl flooring ?

See if you can get an offcut of lino from a local shop, that is where I get mine from. They often have large pieces really cheap.
