Hi, we have had our 3 10 week old boars since christmas eve. They are getting used to being held and cuddled now which is lovely. Tonight I held one and he vibrated/rumbled/shook in short spurts. Is this a happy display or something bad:{?
It sounds as if your piggy might be a bit scared/worried. I found this thread that sounds similar http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=58659 It says that short rumbles are often due to the guinea pig being frightened. I'm sure that with time they will become more accustomed to you. Hope this helps
They just sound a bit nervous/worried. Dont worry about it too much, just short cuddles little and often are great for bonding. They may take a while to gain more confidence and trust. It sounds like normal untamed piggie behaviour.
One of my piggies always does that when I stroke/cuddle her... it's just her personality I think, because she's very happy... just a bit silent. (My other piggie always makes noises though)
One of my girls 'purrs' when having a fuss and makes no attempt to run off and hide, in fact she tends to flop onto her side and stretches her little chicken legs out as if she's really enjoying me stroking her rolleyes
My Daniel usually does this after I plop him on my lap, but after a carrot he's fine. Carter however, does this constantly, and ended up running into my coat and tried pushing himself through the arm hole.
Tinkerbell has recently been doing this constantly. We recently purchased a friend for her, a very pretty grey and white one (sorry, don't know the different types. Got pics but computer is being crazy and won't let me upload them) and I have caught her stalking Lady Grey, and making a noise. Any ideas?
my boys do this too but its when they are relaxed and happy......perhaps it has a few meanings.....mine are deff not unhappy and relax in my arms....they vibrate on and off before drifting off to sleep on my lap or in my armsx)
