Hi all!

Can someone point me in the direction of a Vetbed "info" thread? Mainly just want to know care advice and particularly what people do with their hay! My boy currently is on shavings and just has a pile of hay to eat/sleep on. Obviously this is going to be a pain on Vetbed as hay will get stuck everywhere!

There is a thread on bedding in the housing section, not sure if vetbed is specifically mentioned though

It is treated no differently to fleece in that it needs an absorbent layer underneath and gets put in a washing machine. The only thing I found when I used vetbed is that my machine really struggled with it and I had to cut it up into smaller pieces to stop the banging. I gave up on it in the end.
Using a rubber brush works well to get hay off of it

Ah the rubber brush is a good idea! I'm hoping our washer should cope, we do towels and dog stuff in there so fingers crossed. I have tried fleece before but just didn't get on with it, hoping vetbed is better, especially for a smelly boar! :vom:

I use it in the bed area and wash it in a special laundry bag - works very well with rubber brush too

I actually don’t find fleece and vetbed really any different to each other (I also have two boars). Perhaps vetbed dries a little quicker but it works in the same way.
it’s the slight rigidity to the backing on vetbed seems prevents it from folding quite so easily and moving freely in the machine, as for example towels, which seems to be the issue.

We used to have Vetfleece which is similar to vetbed, but when we got out super furry super shedding Aby cross piggy Jezzy floof I found it too hard to brush the fur off, so we just have regular fleece liners now, plus a designated 3x2 C&C grid "hay room" area that has recycled paper bedding on newspaper instead of fleece, to make the hay removal easier... not that it does, there is still hay everywhere! A rubber curry comb horse grooming brush is brilliant for brushing down fleecy things before a wash :)
