Hi everyone,so I'm thinking about changing to vetbed for My guinea pigs cage. I tried fleece and found it a nightmare to clean, because it "bunched up" when I was brushing the poo off. Is vetbed any better than fleece? I'm currently using Woodshavings but they are very dusty and I don't like them. What is better to use under vetbed: Towels or puppy pads? Thanks for any replies.

Don't know what vet bed is like, but a little tip if you put your hand on or at the edges, then it doesn't bunch up. Vet bed is expensive

Thanks for replying. Vetbed seems quite reasonably priced on amazon? It would cost a bit less than 2 cages liners and I'd have a bit of vet bed to spare.

I use puppy pads under my Vetbed. I find it a complete nightmare to sweep and it's very soft and fleecy so poops and hay get stuck in it.

The best way to sweep it is to remove it from the cage and shake it out.

I only have vetbed in the girls beds, I have puppy pads underneath them. I take them out, shake them and then brush them off with a rubber handheld brush which deals with the hay really well.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do have small pieces of vetbed that I use as a bed for the rabbit, but he is litter trained and they are nowhere near his litter tray so don't really get covered in hay. I use a slicker brush to get all the fur out of the vetbed. I was just wondering if Vetbed would be reasonably easy to keep or are Fleece cage liners easier?

I use vet bed.I give it a good shake before washing and put it in one of those bags for washing horse blankets. After washing I usually give it a once over with the hoover using the attachment hose.

Would You recommend vet bed? How often does it need washed?

I thave 2 vet beds-one in use and one "in the wash".I tend to wash them every 4 days-that's with 2 boars on a 6ft x 3ft piece. They also deteriorate with time especially as I put them on quite a hot wash. They boys love it though and really snuggle into it when they have a nap.Its cool in the summer despite its fluffiness
In the winter though I do revert back to Fitch as I like to dry it outside which is difficult in the winter.
