I'm currently using fleece - what are the benefits of vetbed over fleece? And vice versa if you so wish!

vetbed is softer, and deeper, harder wearing, less washing, stays drier and doesn't smell as much imo ;)

As you're well aware, I've got the towels under the fleece to absorb everything because the fleece doesnt - I imagine the vetbed puts more space between the pigs and the wetness?

The wet sinks to the bottom bit of the vetbed so that the surface always stays dry, I add newspaper underneath too so that you've got extra to absorb the urine too.

I would go with vet bed!
Just asking [i know its your thread but..] how much does vet bed cost and how often do you wash it?:)

I have vet bed and it is brilliant. The piggies like the luxury ;) under their feet.
Less hassle and washing than fleeces - lots of nice colours available too. I currently have rolls of lilac, maroon and pink so really looks nice and bright.
Doesn't move when they start racing around either so I'm not constantly 'tidying' up for them :))

We have vet bed over a thick layer of newspaper in all of our hutches in summer and cages in winter. We don't put it in hutch sleeping areas though as it's a nightmare to get the hay off! Lasts a good week before it needs washing and it's really easy to scoop up poops from...I use an old soup spoon and the poops just glide on! Would recommend a stiff brush to get the bits off before washing though...:))

:(|) this is our trick too, we use a plastic scoop though and occasionally a poop or two will slingshot itself across the room :(|)
The joys of being a piggy slave...tsk ;)

Actually... just been browsing ebay and its much cheaper than petstores on there... and pretty colours xx>>>

How do you wash it though? can you put it in a washing bag or pillow case then put that in the washing machine to stop hairs all coming out?

I put the vet beds on a delicate wash in a duvet cover then leave to air dry. Come up lovely every time :) Can only put two in at one time due to the size and thickness though. Any off cuts are useful for a poorly piggy to sleep on as it maintains the body temperature.
