Well I purchased what I thought was vetbed from a company called petnhome.co.uk but the fluff just pulls off it and there is no way I am letting the pigs onto that. I especially know Rodney will try to eat it and choke. I thought I was playing it safe getting it from a dedicated website and not ebay. I am assuming you shouldnt be able to pull fluff off it but as soon as I unwrapped it I could see it wouldnt work. Hoping they will refund me now as it was £65 for 5m! Money I can ill afford to waste especially with Rodney costing me a small fortune every 2 weeks.

The other annoying thing is I am now left with bugger all to put in Rodders cage as I didnt bother buying anymore carefresh thinking I would be using this and everywhere is shut now. Oh the joys.....

It does tend to come off at edges where its cut. If this is the case if you pull all loose stuff from edges it shouldnt come off anymore.

If it is coming off from middle then its not normal!

That pic is from the edge but it still comes off in the middle though not as bad. However even a few strands could choke a guinea pig so I'm not going to risk it. It is alot thicker/deeper than I thought it would be. Well sending them an email to see what the returns/refund policy is. Back to the carefresh for now (tomorrow to be precise!), although looking for a cheaper solution as that is £20 a pack which is used up in one go!

You could try Fitch? www.fitchrecycling.co.uk

The vetbed may need washing so that all the excess comes off. Our latest vetbed has been given to us by the receptionist at the vets so was second hand. I can't remember what new vetbed is like.

I just went on to the PetnHome.co.uk website and they advertise VetBed and their own PetnHome Veterinary Bedding. Their own PetnHome Veterinary appears to advertised as suitable for dog bedding but it does seem to be slightly confusing way of advertising,

I only checked the website as I remember this company being mentioned on a thread a few months back. I had thought about ordering some at the time but didn't get round to it. I think I am glad I didn't order. I have looked in the pet shop we cannot name! and they only have a white vet bed which is not suitable for guinea pigs. I hope you can get a refund if your order is not suitable for what you want it for.

Oh no! That is not good. I get mine from dogsproductdirect and have always been pleased with it.

After you wash it a few times, all the fluff should come off, and should be ok to use.
That's how they are when they are new.

Even regular fleece will have some fluff that comes off after washing and drying.

Yes, this is the case. I used vet bed for a long time but eventually moved over to fleece, only because I learned to use a sewing machine to make them.
The vetbed is now used for sleeping pads etc.
