One of my little girls LOVES to dig up the fleece liner in our C&C cage. She scraps away like a bunny and looks really chuffed when I have to staighten it out. Monkey! ::)

I use fleece and washable mattress pads (like puppy pads). I have made and discarded 2 wooden frames because they warp and split (not to mention stink!) when they get wee'd on. I stretched the fleece over the frames to keep it taught and prevent under-fleece-exploration.

If I buy vetbed:

1) is the rubber mat/base strong enough and heavy enough to stop Boogie digging underneath it?

2) how easy is it to wash? I have a small twin tub semi automatic washing machine (oh yes! they still exist - meant for a caravan but I live in a tiny studio and it's the only washing device that will fit in my kitchenette) so if it won't bend it's not feasible.

3) how often do you wash it? I have to wash my fleece every 2 days and it's driving me potty because it's so time consuming. :(

Please help! Thanks :)

1. it doesnt have a rubber base its a very very strong base and i woul dbe extremely surprised if a guinea pig and dig that.

2. its very easy to wash but make sure you brush thoroughly before putting in. it does bend int eh wash so you will be fine.

I do mine every 6th day. you put newspaper underneath to soak the urine. You also can vaccum all the poo up very easily on it.

I agree with everything PW says, I have tried fleece and found it isn't absorbent and is just messy, Vetbed is meant for the job. A paper bag stuffed with hay might satisfy your girls exploration needs :)

Using a twintub to wash vetbed will probably work better than an automatic, even though I give the vetbed a good brush and hoover before I wash it,the filter on my machine still gets blocked

Fleece

I have a C&C cage for my three piggies and they dig up the fleece all the time, I don't have bricks and they poo there which makes it hard to clean help?
