I'm buying 5mtrs of vetbed for my girls hutches but dont know which is better the non slip or just the plain green backed.

Iv had both before and reckon the green backed would stay solid better than the non slip, but thought id ask the experts here first :)

I prefer the non slip the green one has started to lose its fibers in the wash so everythings covered in green dust :S

I am still using an old piece of green backed that i had before my more recent non slip, the non slip looks in worse condition than green backed, plus the green backed dries alot quicker and seems to go in the washer easier too.

Where do you buy your vet bed? I have profleece for our dog but I think the fibres might be a bit long for the hutch... To tempting to eat!

I'm using the green back one at the moment with no problems. I've just ordered a new non-slip one which should be arriving in the next few days. Hopefully it'll be just as good!

I have non-slip and that has been absolutely brilliant, couldn't recommend it highly enough x)

I've used both, preferred the green back as it just looked better after frequent washing and the non-slip did shrink a little.

i prefer the green backed to the non slip. also the plain colours are better than the patterned in my opinion. the patterned tends to go very thin

Sooo happy today! Vetbed arrived so Iv been cutting it all up for the hutches and Iv also managed to *almost* finish all the painting and adjustments to the hutches.
Iv got some quite happy pigs today, after being cooped up in a hutch for the last 3 days [I'm not proud of it] lol

I will post a thread as soon as Iv finished :D

That's great - you won't look back and our piggies love their vet bed.
I use a stanley knife to cut it to size (well my OH does as I'm accident prone with anything sharp mallethead) Have thrown so many pairs of scissors out after chopping vet bed up due to the thickness :x
Look forward to updates and pics of some very happy piggies ;)

Oh right! Is this better than fleece then? What's the difference between the two?

Doesn't it catch their nails it looks fluffy?

no it's great for them. it's warm and cosy and the wee soaks through to the bottom. it stays drier much longer than fleece. i tried fleece but wasn't that impressed. this is great though. i'd never change again now

So do you still put towels under it?

i simply put newspaper underneath it. i 'poop scoop' once or twice a day and wash the vetbed weekly. it is so much easier and quicker to clean the hutches out now. most importantly it is warm and comfortable for the pigs

I'd NEVER resort back to fleece - occasionally, I've popped the trio of girls hay baskets on fleece but it smells awful within 24 hours so vet bed the whole pen now :))
Check on ebay for suppliers, lots out there, some can be purchased for around £30 inc. p+p for around 10ft rolls. Lovely colours too :))

i think i might try this ive been using fleece and towels for a while but it feels damp in the corners after a day or so :)
