Yesterday, I found out that my guinea pig’s eye was a little swollen and red. I thought that it was weird bcuz in the morning she didn’t have that. Since their first vet visit was today, I decided to get it checked out. Sadly, Nugget was diagnosed with corneal ulcer. It wasn’t very severe but it wasn’t mild either. I think she got it cuz she is always jumping into the hay. So maybe a sharp piece of hay cut her eye. Nugget doesn’t rlly like me now bcuz the doctor had to handle her in a way she didn’t like. Is it normal for a guinea pig to be like this after a vet visit?

I’m sorry to hear she has haypoke. It is a very common injury in piggies given their constant need for hay.

Has she been prescribed eye drops and pain relief?

But yes being nervous after a trip to the vet is normal. She will settle back down

Hay pokes are a very common injury. My Mia had one a few weeks back, now Eris has one. She too has eye drops. Eyes heal really quickly so you should notice a difference in the next few days 🙂

Hope the haypoke heals quickly.

Does ‘tysm’ mean ‘thank you so much’?
I’m from the pre- text speak generation so am not always sure.
