Marley needs a blood test to find out if he has hyperthyroidism. As a 7 year old piglet who weighs at best 730g (despite eating everything in sight) and doesn't travel well we are looking for a vet who can do this. Can anyone recommend a vet fairly local to us?

The Potteries use Clive and his team at The Willows vet practice at Tunstall. Clive is the head vet and very experienced with guinea pigs.

Thanks, I'll give them a call in the morning. Our vets have suggested a practice in Derby but Marley gets very agitated if he spends longer than 40 minutes in a carrier and I'd rather not stress him unnecessarily as it puts him back with his weight gain.

Hi - there is an exotic vets in Shifnal - Taylor and Marshall. My family lives in Telford, and my sister takes her piggies there. One of my boys had a blood test done there as well. If the vet recommended above can’t accommodate, they might be worth a call.

Out of curiosity, won't Severn edge do it? There's one in Donnington. The hospitals in Bridgnorth. While none of my pigs have had bloods, theyve been for other reasons and they've been fantastic.

We used to use Severn Edge until Helen the vet moved. I've booked him at Taylor and Marshall during Christmas week who we used to use with the chooks. Our usual vets did an ultrasound on him Thursday which showed a small kidney stone but nothing else. This morning I can only describe him as manic for salad and spent 40 minutes being lap fed which is unusual. I'm hoping that the blood test gives us some idea of what's going on with him.
