Ok I took the plunge and bought two big bits of Vet Bed from Amazon (pricey :o)which I can cut in half and have two sets for the piggies cage.

A few questions and I'm tottally new to this type of bedding having only ever used care free and sawdust.

Do I need to put anything underneath it between the tray and the vet bed?

Is it easy to hoover up poops daily with a hand held hoover?

How often does it need to bed changed?

Does is get very smelly up to about 7 days?

Spammed with questions I know but I like to be clued up on these things before I plunge in and make a complete mess of it all. Me and Eddie are really looking forward to ditching the care free though its such a big job to clean out the two story cage at the moment, I'm hoping vet bed will make my life much easier, if not I'm going to try fleece/inco pads.

I'm getting some vet bed soon too :)
Here's a thread which might help you http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=29854

I'm going to put some new paper in the bottom of the tray, and then an old towel folded up (The cage is only small so I think I can get away with using just 1) then the VetBed :)
I think the washing is kinda of personal, depending of how many piggies you have, and how big the cage is. Most people I've talked to seem to wash it every 2-4 days.

I love my pigs vetbed. So easy to Hoover and i just put a layer of newspaper under it. It depends on how much its been pee'd on. iv only got a strip on one end of their cage mine usually go up to say 5days then wash. If you need more ebay has got loads of suppliers =)

I'm such an idiot, I measured my cage in inches and then ordered the vet bed in centimetres! £44 of wasted money, but I'm going to use it in the pig pen or sew it together, found it a lot cheaper and in the right size on e-bay, I'm very excited about it, got it in bright blue so its cheerful and the poops can be spotted and cleaned up easily :D

Oh dear =/

I've hopefully got a bit comming from a friend :) At the monent I'm using fleece for my Rex. He definatly does ALOT of poos's o.O
It seems pretty easy to spot clean though :)
