Hi,
The girls 120 cages has arrived and we are having good success with the litter box. I really want to get rid of the wood shavings as they get everywhere. I am wondering whether to go for fleece or vet bed? Would i need to use puppy pads under vet bed? Any advice?

We used vet bed but found it shrunk alot after a few washes. It stayed nice and dry though, although Tina seemed to like pulling chunks out of it! They are on newspaper, then towels, then fleece now which works quite well :)

Yes, you need to use puppy pads under VetBed as the wee soaks through it really quickly.

They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

VetBed stays drier longer, but it does get hay, poops and food stuck in it a lot easier.

Very true XD We were forever picking hay off it, even after it was washed! Fleece is easier to brush off, I've found :3

I love my vet bed and find the hay easier to brush off than on fleece, it's so much heavier I can brush it really hard. It does need a lot more room in the machine though as it's so thick. If hair or hay get stuck too firmly in it I put it on the floor and hoover it. It does shrink a lot to begin with so don't cut it to exact size, bend it up the sides of the cage, the piggies love to snuggle against it. I've had my vet bed two years and it's shrunk about four inches width and length and now fits the cage (I'm hoping it won't shrink anymore).

I have got some vet bed and some fleece and various absorbent things. Just need the guinea pigs now!
