It is day three of two babies together. They are both Abby's about 8 to 10 weeks old. Zilly and Cleopatra. They both are on eye drops and antibiotics for upper respetory infection.

First of all they have been still and unresponsive form day one. Once I thought Cleopatra was dead. They just sit there in the same position.

When there is a pig aloo in there, they both cuddle inside the pig aloo. When I take out the pigaloo, Cleopatra stays in the corner where the pigaloo was and Zilly goes all the way to the other corner, as far as possible, and cuddles there. They stay like this for hours. Together if the pigaloo is there, still as eggs and as far away as possible, still like furry eggs when I remove it. There is no in between.

Now, I know they are eating because the hay and pellets do reduce and the water level goies down. I feel sad because they look so miserable. I am hoping that once the antibiotic wears off they will be more active.

If you've only had them three days they are more than likely still getting used to the sounds and smells of a new house. It'll take a while for them to settle down please leave something for them to hide in, in the cage as them knowing they have something and run and hide in will encourage them to come out more once they get more settled.

It is good to give them two hideys so they can get away from each other if they want to and minimise squabbles.

i hope they perk up soon, maybe they just feel sorry for themselves. Do you get them out for cuddles
Thank you. I give them the antibiotics and eye drops one at a time and then a treat and cuddling time. They are great about taking their meds. What worried me is their stillness and specially Clropatras unresponsiveness . Even when I pick her up or go to pick her up.

Thanks you. They are just so still and unresponsive. Specially Cleopatra. Even when I reach down to pick her up and pick her up. Hopefully when the antibiotics are done they will be more at eaze.

Give them time to get their bearings! It is always more difficult when you have a frightened little piggy on medication.

What you can do to make them feel more safe is to place a beach towel or blanket over the cage, that will hopefully encourage them to come out more.

PS: Guinea pigs have more chance of survival when they are not in one big heap when unprotected. ;)

oh bless them. they could also be trying to keep warm and conserve energy. fighting an illness does seem to take it out of them. i know it's warmer at the moment but because of illness, maybe some extra snuggly warm areas might be a good idea. then they're there if they need them. and i agree with putting something over one side of the cage to make them feel more secure aswell. x
