Hi all

I noticed Erin had slightly soft poops last night , which was alot worse this morning. (pic attached of recent poo)
She is straining when pushing it out too, but not crying. I havent noticed her wee yet as shes mainly in her carrier or house.
My local vet gave metacam and ranitidine (also fluid injection which she took her away for) and said to keep up syringe feeding (question - can i give her Dual care and critical care to change it up or just stick to the one?)
Shes a little with the feeding part. I dont think its teeth as when she is eating shes eating fine. i gave a tiny bit of green pepper and coriander and she ate that with no hesitation.
I'm not sure wether to wait it out as my vet said possibly something she ate / stomach bug but its not gotten any better since first thing or late last night.

I am mainly worried about leaving her the weekend.. do i ring cat and rabbit clinic and ask them to investigate? I couldnt get an appt for today sadly but i know they are more knowlegable than my vet.
just at a loss what else to do and could it be something more sinister? Ive also got fibreplex at hand.

Anyone? :ple:
I’m wiping her bum literally every few minutes when I’m feeding her, it smells so strong and her belly’s gotten quite big. At my wits end now

Sorry your post was missed.

I would contact the vet again.
Remove veg from the diet for the time being.
Ensure you carry out daily weight checks and syringe feed her.

I hope she is ok

Thanks, I’ve actually gotten up this morning and Her poops are still soft but more formed rather than a mushy pile so that’s a good start.

She’s also had a drink, a pellet and is munching a little hay. And had a walk around the sofa so that’s positive too. Will see how she gets on now rather than rush to that vets and stress her more on a 2 hour each way car journey.
Ruby was sitting next to her house all night bless her x

That’s a good idea, I forget that you can call for advice too.
Unfortunately her cage mates poops have always been a bit soft too so I wouldn’t want to use them really.
Thank you for the link x

So today she’s still straining when pooping.
I noticed a red patch on her puppy pads and convinced it’s her and not her cage mate as she uses that hidey most of the time.

I did a urine test on it, obviously it’s not 100% accurate and I pressed it on a puppy pad, but PH looks high, plus possibly blood and urobilinogen? I can try my best to do a proper test but not sure how it’s go about it other than follow her about with a urine stick and put it under her when she pees?

Ps poops much more formed. Still a little soft but getting there definitely and she’s more herself and eating more / weight is perfect again.
