Vegetables

Hi all,

I am looking at going away for a weekend (leave Saturday, return Sunday).
If I fed my pigs vegetables in the morning before I leave, would they be okay to wait until I got back on Sunday evening (around 8-9pm)? They usually have their vegetables around 5:30pm.
I would make sure that they had plenty of hay, water and pellets!

In direct answer to your question they will be ok without vegetables because it isn’t their main food source (they may be a bit cross about it though!).

However, as you seem to be leaving Saturday morning and not returning until 9pm on Sunday then it is really too long for them to be unattended. Ideally you need somebody to go in and check on them a couple of times given the length of time you are away. They will need hay and water topped up, check they are ok/eating/no accidents or illness have occurred (an illness can strike within hours).
