Can anyone tell me, is there any significant difference between VetBed and Vet Fleece? I want to get some asap as Zebedee's back leg problem means he is moving around very little, so sitting on his urine and poo a lot. I've given him a little tum and bum bath 2 days ago, and will do so as required cos I don't want him getting urine scald on his tum or legs, but I have heard that Vet Bed and/or Vet Fleece are good for these situations.

However I don't know if there is a difference between the two, and if so which would be the best for us, so if anyone could advise I would be grateful. We currently have a Ferplast 120 cage, so I'm thinking it would be easiest to get several big pieces to cover the whole cage and swap out regularly. I understand there are diffferent types so would appreciate any thoughts if one would be best for this situation and how to use it (ie what to put underneath it if anything).

Many thanks!

I don't know if there is a difference, I always buy Vetbed with the green backing as the quality is excellent.

I can’t help but will follow with interest as I’d like to know, too. Sorry that Zebedee is having issues, still .

I've only ever used VetBed and until now didn't know of Vet Fleece. I think either would be okay, but the Vet Fleece looks thinner. I find VetBed to be brilliant when it comes to pigs who have issues with movement.

Sorry to hear Zebedee is poorly. Sending him healing vibes.
I have both vetbed types with the green backing and the heavy duty non slip rubber backing. In a smaller cage with a poorly piggy you would be okay with the green back light weight one (usually cheaper) and easier to wash.
I found with the C&C cage the corex is not as sturdy as the base of a commercial cage and zoomies causes slippage up the sides, even when weighted down with log tunnels!

Sending lots of healing vibes. I've never heard of vetfleece, only vetbed.

Thanks for the replies & healing vibes!

I bought some Vet Bed this afternoon, the deep-pile non-slip one as that is what my local small pet supplies shop has in. Bought a piece 3ft x 2ft, I'll probably cut it in half and use them alternately in the half of the cage Zebedee hangs out in. I hope he likes it and it keeps him dry!

I think I found Vet Fleece when I did an internet search. It's made by a company up in Yorkshire. Looking more closely at their website, some of their range looks pretty similar to the VetBed I bought. I think both companies make a thinner mat too, it would be interesting to know how absorbent it is compared to the deep-pile stuff. The piece I bought was £29, which is quite a lot really; if the green-backed one is sufficient and cheaper I'll have a look for it if I need more.

As we use a smaller cage in the caravan this can be an issue with 4 piggies. We have found folded ikea fleeces (throws) over vet bed seems to work well.

I found ebay was the cheapest place for vetbed but you need lots of time to go through it all. You can sometimes get off cuts and ends of rolls at a reduced price.

ive both vet bed ,vet fleece, the same product, just one is a brand name by petlife, the other is non branded ! the higher the density of pile the better it wears.average is 1200,gold vet bed is 1500.ensure it has a green heavy duty backing,as can be washed at high temps.the non slip is good, but has to be washed at 40 degrees ,otherwise it disinctigrades !ive used vet loved from amazon, and petlife vetbed, both wear as well.only difference ive found is the price tag !

Thank Eileen I wondered what the difference was between the gold and normal!
I wash my non slip at 60 weekly and 90 occasionally with no problems. I've had some of it for 3 years.
