hi I'm new to this site so just want to say HELLO firstly and i think this forum is brilliant good job everyone! :rose
my name is Eilidh and i currently have 5 piggies, and was looking for some advice, I'm quite a novice compared to most of you! I have two 5 month old Abyssinians which just came home last week from rescue centre, they are fine and healthy but they have a taste for human flesh! lol is this normal? none of my other ones have EVER bit me but these monkeys seem to have a taste for my blood! :0

Hi Eilidh and welcome to the forum.
Sorry I dont know why they would be biting you .... maybe they will settle down and stop when theyve been with you longer..... Hopefully someone who knows more about this type of behaviour will see your post and help,

Hi and welcome!

Have you checked whether you have use some scent they don't like? Some piggies can bite when they feel under attack.

Perhaps you can change the way you pick them up and try to gently herd them into a pick up cozy or tunnel/piece of pipe, a padded show box with one end cut off or simply use a towel.

Have a fleece on your lap they can snuggle under and feel protected. Be patient and persistent, and time will be on your side.

thanks for the advice! i will try and use a blanket, they are happy to sit on my lap for a few seconds then they are climbing allover the place, i think they might settle down, i just thought it was strange they both do it, it seems to be when i am holding them to put them back in the cage they just nip a couple of times then sink teeth in to my hand, they have bitten my boyfriend too :o they do seem tobe much more destructive than any of my other ones,it may just be that they will grow out of it.

Maybe they are just scared! one of my boys is a nipper tho he never actually draws blood. He nips when hes had enough of me. So maybe it's the same sort of thing. "had enough of you know so I'm gonna bite you" lol
