UTI

I am currently on day 4 of a 5 day course of antibiotics for a suspected Uti in my three year old female piggy.
I was so please today when she did a huge wee on her mat without blood in it but later noticed blood in the run.

is it usual for blood to not always be present with a uti?

no she wasn’t prescribed metacam she was prescribed the antibiotic Baytrill and pain killer Loxicom,

metacam has cropped up a lot in my reading over the past few days ... what is it? Also cystease ?

Metacam and loxicom are one and the same - anti inflammatory pain killer.

Cystease is a supplement which contains glucosamine and helps line the bladder.

How did the vet diagnose UTI? Was it on urine sampling? Or what were the symptoms? I’ll be honest, by day 4-5 I would expect a UTI to be much improved and no blood to be present in the urine.
has she had a scan/X-ray to check for stones or a reproductive problem such as ovarian cysts?

Ahh i see.

the vet just diagnosed by me telling the symptoms and having a feel of her tummy etc. she had done a wee on the pad that was in her carrier so he saw there was a blood tinge to it.

No - the vet did say an x-ray was the next stage if the antibiotics don't work.

She should have really been seen. I would ring the vet and get her as there's no improvement.
