Hi all,
I have a 1 year old boar, Norbert, who recently started crying when weeing. I took him to the vet and she suggested because he was quite smelly that it most likely was a UTI. So he’s started on antibiotics and painkillers for 5 days.
What are the chances that this is sludge? My previous piggie, Raymond, had awful bladder issues and ended up having to be put to sleep because of them. It just feels so unlucky that only after a year of my Raymond passing that new piggie Norbert also has sludge.
He’s on day 3 of antibiotics and still a bit of crying when passing urine.

I'm very sorry but only 5 days sounds a bit short for a treatment with antibiotics. Usually it's seven days minimum, better 10 days, sometlmes even longer when necessary.

How is your second piggy (or the others) doing?
Some piggies are more susceptible to UTI than others but it can also be a matter of feeding.
What are you feeding your piggies?

Apologies your post was missed earlier in December.

As a while has passed since your post, can you update us as to what has happened since?

I would agree that 5 days is very short for an antibiotic course for a UTI.
Are you seeing any sludge spots on bedding?
