So sad and worried about my boar George. If he is passing blood, that he has been since Friday with the UTI, does this mean that he is passing urine? He had a vet visit (Wednesday) for straining and being off colour and no blood in pee, but some protein. Given Baytril (I now know that this is not the first choice) and Metacam. I took him back after a hour as the straining noises were worrying me: x ray and clear bladder and kidneys. Since then I have managed to keep his weight up but he is still passing blood and lying on his front (unusual as he has arthritic joints), head down and making these sad whimpering noises. He is due further Metacam shortly. I am doing the Fibreplex, cranberry...all sorts from advice from a wonderful friend at a rescue. If I take him to the out of hours tonight it will be probably no operation and pts. I can get him to our vets tomorrow morning, which I will....
So...is it likely he is passing urine still?
Have people experience of piggies surviving something like this.....I don't want him to give up on me.
Thanks so much. The current two piggies have had the best care of any of mine (as I have become more experienced) but despite my best efforts this seems to be spiraling downhill.........
Thanks

How old is your piggy?
When you say he's passing blood is this pink blood stained wee or neat blood spotches? When did the blood appear? Before or after the vet appointment?
What weight is he and what dosage of metacam is he on?
Did the vet rule out completely bladder or urethral stones?

Too late everyone. George has died and I don't know how or why. Thank you Vicki A for your response

You did your best for him and he would know how much you loved him. He will be pain free now. RIP beautiful piggy xx
