Hello - what is best anti-biotic for UTI. I notice Baytril is mentioned a lot in threads. Is there an alternative one? Reason I ask is I received excellent advice here a few years back re- which anti-biotic worked best for an abscess. Thanks in advance

Dignified Sir George has had both baytril and more recently co amoxiclav. Both have worked and he's had no ill effects from either. He's a weirdo and likes baytril but I expect the co amoxiclav is more tolerable to most piggies.

I don’t think you mean co-amoxiclav - that is penicillin so is toxic to guinea pigs!
Do you mean co-trimoxazole?

@SRJ - co-trimoxazole and baytril are commonly prescribed but your vet will determine which is best in your particular circumstance
