My 2 pigs have a ramp in their hutch that leads downstairs to the run. 1 of them will run up and down it fine but the other one won't! I have tried everything I can think of (veggies on ramp, leading her down etc) but nothing seems to work. And I've had my pigs for a very long time now so it is not a case of her just getting used to it! xx

Hmmmm...very odd?

Have you tried attaching a tunnel to the ramp? Does your ramp have sides on it to make piggies feel safer? What have you lined the ramp with? (my ramps are lined with off-cuts of vetbed, but ive used old carpet before)

No I haven't thought of doing this! And the ramp does not have sides. I'm unsure of what the ramp has on it, it's like a green material! It seems very slip resistant though! If I was to make it into a tunnel how would you reccomend doing that?

Because I'm getting a new hutch which is a double storey and that means I've got a ramp I guess I can answer this question :) Mine is cut like steps with little ridges in it but then I got my Grandad to make mine so I had a choice in how I wanted it :)) Not sure about the tunnel bit though. Hope this helps :)

I bought one of these tunnels recently:

http://www.petsathome.com/shop/large-small-pet-activity-tunnel-by-pets-at-play-15846

What i did was feed the ramp through the tunnel and tie it to the bottom and top cage bars so it doesn't move - i suppose you could also attach it to the ramp using velcro (i have seen iron on velcro strips in sainsburys).

I would definitely look in to re covering your ramp using an old piece of carpet. I did see a pic once of someone that covered their ramp using an old gym sock ;) They just attached it by putting the sock over the ramp and using velcro at the top 'open end' (enabling them to remove it for washing)

There is also a site that makes specially designed ramp tunnels (cant think of the name off hand - will have a search for you)

Cool dude, this might come in handy for me too!

Hmm... this is a good idea but I would not be able to feed my ramp through the tunnel as it is in a fixed position and I cannot move it! :(

maybe not - take a look here:

http://www.cosycavies.co.uk/products/tunnels/

Like i said in my previous post you can still attach a tunnel on top of your ramp and use velcro strips to attach it ;)

My first post on this forum was asking for advice because my first pig wouldnt use his ramp - i followed the advice and attached a ramp along with a carpet covering and my boy was using running up/down within hours...

All it takes is a little DIY and a few pounds ;)

The above site is a good one of you want a ready made ramp tunnel :)
