Hi,
Can you use dettol liquid - antiseptic and anti bacterial with piggies? I was thinking of soaking the piggies dirty fleece and liners in water with that in it before it goes in the wash. That way germs won't build up and I only have to do one wash a week which is better for the environment. Wondered if it is safe for piggies? The bottle just says keep away from cats but nothing else.

I think some people use the laundry cleanser - but not the Dettol Disinfectant I wouldn't - it smells too strong .

If you want to use a disinfectant, I advise F10

We sometimes wash our fleece with a tiny splash of dettol, but its the kind which is for washing handkerchiefs and bathing cuts, not the stuff for floors and toilets. And we only ever use half a capful in the detergent drawer so it gets 2 full rinses afterwards. Seems to stop smells very well, but important to get the stuff you could use near your face or directly on your skin not the harsher stuff.

I use white vinegar in my washing machine when washing piggy items. White vinegar cleans and disinfects well.

I have a vague memory of dettol not being good....

Thank you. Yes that was the stuff I was thinking of.
