Hi everyone,

My youngest piggie is currently on meloxydil and baytril to treat a mouth infection caused from a cut. This is his second time in two months being on this medication and had previously suffered weight loss as a result. He seemed to be making great progress on it until I went to his cage tonight and noticed that his urine was a light brown colour and less like a liquid. I have never seen this from him before so wondered if it could possibly be the medication or if anyone knows any other possible causes.

Thank you for your help.

Urine does turn brown when it oxidises. Could it be that? However, if you are worried there’s no harm in taking the piggy to the vet.

Thank you it could just be that as it was on a leaf of his food he didn't eat so it wasn't absorbed so that could possibly be it.

Don’t be put off taking him in if you are worried. They are used to seeing them and prefer you take them in even if there’s nothing wrong 😚
