Hello,

I wanted to follow up on my previous post with updates and new questions.

Firstly, in addition to Kaylors .1 mL of antibiotics (Enrofloxacin) in the morning and 0.15 mL of metacam twice daily (although I have given her a little more (0.2 mL when things were bad), I started giving her Shi Lin Tong and Cystease dissolved in water as they were recommended in cases similar to Kaylor's in the past.

The good news: Kaylor is not losing weight in the same frequency, it is going up little by little overnight. I am still syringe feeding her critical care a few times a day to make sure she is eating enough.

The great news: No more red pee! The vet said it wasn't blood but likely porphyrins produced by stress. Although there were some crystals present in the urine analysis.

The bad news: Kaylor is squeaking now when pooing as opposed to peeing. She will pee normally and then her behind will start almost convulsing and she squeaks until the poop comes out. She also lifts her bottom up a fair amount which seems to be new but I have seen other guinea pigs do this before. I have tweeted a video of this as I am unsure how to post a video here directly
Any ideas on the sudden change to issues pooing as opposed to peeing? I thought the red clearing up was a good sign but with the painful pooing she does seem to be eating less.

I would suggest you have her seen again by the vet in the coming week. Is she on any medication at the moment? Your link to a previous thread doesn’t work. It may be better for you to continue on the other thread if the issue is related. It makes it easier for the experienced members to have the background info in one place, rather than ‘hunting’ for it. I hope she starts feeling better soon.
