Hi,

we have a piggy with URI and a reduced appetite. He eats - mostly hay and some of his veggies - but is very picky. Hes a big eater normally, and now hes very selective. We offer him critical care just in case and he loves it. I dont think the critical care is really necessary, he lost about 25g this week and that was well needed 😅

Hes on day 6 with Bactrim, Metacam and Bisolovon. He seems fine; no sneezing, crusty eyes or crackly breathing. Very excited for food, play and cuddles. Next vet appointment is on monday. We give him probiotics and extra vitamin c-drops every day.

My question; could it be the Bactrim or metacam that reduces the appetite?

It’ll be the antibiotics.
Metacam will not have any effect on appetite, in fact the opposite. Discomfort can cause a reduction in appetite so being on the painkiller will obviously stop any discomfort

Like I suspected. Ill keep giving him critical care the munch on just "in case of" and to keep him strong (and a little hefty...).
