i was just looking on the guinea pig forum when i realised the guine pig on my lap has eaten a bit of my dressing gown string/ribbon! will he be injured or choke? he has eaten it now with no trouble so could it harm him him on the inside? oh and i dont know how much he has chewed but its enough to cut it in half:...

hi

does he appear to be choking or acting like he has got something stuck in his teeth?have you had a look in his mouth?

I'm sure he will be ok but monitor him just to keep an eye on him :)

Keep an eye on him. One of my piggies had managed to scoff a whole ribbon while I'd just gone out of the room and she was OK.

Ginger chewed his way through a plastic bag full of freshly cut grass when my back was turned the other day with no subseqeuent ill effects.

Monitor him closely for signs of bloat/decreased poo output over the next 48 hours or so and if there are any problems go straight to the vet.
