Hi All,

We have 2 Guineas Fozzy and Rollie who may be known to you through my partner Neda
Rollie is a Dental piggie and has to have regular treatment for this
However this is not directly related, and since Monday he has had evidence of breathing issues, and he has been on Sulfatrim for a few days and seemed OK ish but today I have come home to him breathing heavily and slow almost like a slow heartbeat more than breathing
He has been to an out of hours vet who has injected him I can't recall what with, but they we satisfied with his level of fluids and he's normally a hefty pig around the 1.28lg marl today he's at 1.20 which has happened before so in and if itself not a huge concern but the breathing still seems bad (appointment was 11pm)
We have a nebuliser that we have used to great effect with Foz in the past and have given Rollie a few bursts in this with some saline to help his breathing and cool him as the weather has been super hot the past 2 days

Anyway I'm looking for some.... Inclination that all is not lost really? I'm worried that he is in a bad place as his breathing seems to slow every function down, but even getting critical care into him has been a problem as he is eating so slowly
I have also given him vit c plus solution to help aid things and he is on Loxicom for pain relief
We have to make another appointment tomorrow morning but I'm fearful we may not make that 😭
Any suggestions welcome

Make sure you have him in a well ventilated room. Keep feeding him critical care and be sure he gets water. I’m not sure what else to advise you, but I’ll tag those who might know. @Bill & Ted @Wiebke @Betsy
Best of wishes for your piggie! ❤️🥰

Hi there- I'm.so sorry you are having a troubled time with your piggie. I'm.only seeing this as its so hot here this evening I've been juggling kids between cooler rooms! Someone will come along soon to offer advice but in the meantime can you state which country you are in as this will help them help you better. You already have your appointment for tomorrow so it sounds like you are a very caring owner & doing all you can.
I hope all goes well over the coming hours x

Yes follow up is at 11:15 this morning, note sure what that looks like as with the whole lockdown mess I won't be able to go in
Will just have to hope they can help him turn the corner
I'm happy to tend him but currently feel nothing is making a difference 😕

Thinking of you and lovely Rollie - hope it goes well at the vets and they are able to really help him - this weather does not help. Let us know and everyone on here is there for you all

Good luck with your appointment- I hope it goes well. You've acted quickly in what must be a very worrying time.

@BoredBellaaa I am sure you mean well but please don’t keep tagging forum members. We do have a team of health and illness notable contributors who actively monitor the health and illness threads. They get notified every time someone posts a thread in health and illness but may not be able to respond immediately as we are UK based and all of us are volunteers. Unless there is something specific you do not need to tag them. Also, of the people you have tagged, only Wiebke is a H & I advisor.

@Bendijim I am sorry to hear that Rollie is having trouble with his breathing. I hope that you got some answers at your follow up appointment this morning.

Hi All,

I'm sorry to say that our little man has passed away
I can't.....
I just can't.. 😭😭😭

So sad. He declined so quickly. I think the heat made his respiratory problem so much worse. Ben has done absolutely everything humanly possible for this little piggie, I've lost count of the sleepless nights you've had ccing him through the dental issues. Rest tight little dude.

Thanks for all your help and support on this and so many in the past too. 💔

I’m so sorry to hear about Rollie - it’s very hard for you all, especially having nursed him and hoped to help him improve - he will romping over rainbow bridge to play with Freddie and Lilyberry - remember those lovely times and memories you will always have of Rollie 🥰

Ah I'm sorry to read this news. Sending you my best wishes as you grieve for your boy 😥
