Oh my gosh, I am in shock, and so worried about my guinea pigs.

I had put them both in their run to clean their hutch. When trying to pick them up to return them, one of them escaped and has gone under the shed. I have left food and her run open next to the shed to see if she'll come back.

The other guinea pig is back in the hutch, but I have just checked her and she is in shock, she looks terrified. Is it because she's worried about her sister?

What can I do, please help?
I don't want to keep looking under the shed in case I scare her even more, but is she likely to come back for food?

Please help :(

she will come out when its quiet and she calmed down, just make sure that she cant escape from the garden, maybe put a carrier with some of her favourite veg in to try and coax her out, good luck x

Oh dear you poor thing. not quite sure what to suggest but could you maybe get a long handled broom and try to nudge her out from under? I know she will be more scared but the main thing is to get her out i think. She should come for food eventually but depends how hungry she is. Not sure what else to suggest sorry :(

This happened to me a number of times many years ago when we had a small shed. Most sheds are not fixed to the ground. I got two men who tilted the shed upwards whilst I crawled under and rescued the pig. May not be feasible for you though depending on the size/location of your shed etc.
Is it an Arc run? They are terrible for getting guinea pigs out of, because you have to lift them up and two pigs usually run in the opposite direction and can easily escape.
Good luck.
xx

Yeah it is an arc run, I feel so stupid that this has happened, and so guilty and worried. I just hope the shock of this isn't going to make them both ill or worst :(

My other half will be home from work shortly so I will see if he can try and coax her out.

My poor girls :(

Oh thank god, they are ok! We found her behind a flowerpot. She is back with her sister, they are both ok. So relieved :)

If they are very friendly then I'd try to tempt them out with their favourite veggies/grass/dandelions, or whatever. But if she's really scared them I'd put the run at one side of the shed, and go round the other side and try to shoo her out. But if that is scaring her too much and she might run away and escape, then I'd just leave loads of veggies in the run and watch her from indoors, and stay quiet, and see if she gets out herself. If she goes into the run, then quickly run out and close it. If she is just out in the open in the garden then maybe go out and try to herd her into the run. I find they usually try to get back in the run themselves when they escape.

It's so scary when things like this happen, but it isn't your fault, it was an accident, I hope she gets back in her run soon. Is your garden fenced in? And if you have cats or dogs, then shut them in or something. Also keep an eye on her in case there are any cats or birds around. Good luck

Oh yay, that's brilliant! That happened me a couple of times, mostly with my bunny, it's so scary, but thank God she's ok. And her sister must be happy too
