It could be the heat causing it. I would try cooling him down with a damp cloth. Has he been ill before this?

Wrap him now in a damp cloth it sounds like heat exhastion hun. It will help off to find my Peter Gurney book you go wrap that piggie

Is he eating and drinking normally? Syringe him water so he doesn't get dehydrated. Give him some fruit/veg with a high water content like cucumber, celery, tomato, etc.

WRAP IN TOWEL but Do not give water till he is on his feet. I got it wrong in last post. I am looking at Peter Gurney advice as I type. Once on his feet offer the water.

Have you got a fan as well to keep him cool? He'll need rehydration fluid as well once he is back on his feet. Hope he is ok. x

he can stand buts a bit wobbly. robs gone to get cucumber of celery. he won't take water from the bottle. i know we've got a syringe somewhre but i can find it.
He's just cleaned himself thats got to be a good sign?!

It is a good sign that he's cleaning himself - have you got any critical care sachets to hand? You could syringe him this. It's a liquid food with everything he needs to fight of the problem.

Sounds like he is on the mend now blimey heat exhaustion is awfull to deal with.

If he won't go to his bottle then bring the bottle to him. When my piggie was poorly (old age) I used to bring the bottle to her as she had arthritis and she would drink plenty then.

phew.... that was horrible. he's still a little wheezy. I can see me checking on him all night! i need a strong drink now. its a good job i'm a saddo and stay in. had rob running all over the house for stuff (love him to pieces). they where outside in their runs all day, its a good job too as inside gets so hot, and the runs are cover so always in shade.

I owe you guys a massive debt (love and greatful hugs from both of us and howard)

Send Rob out to get some drinks LOL you NEED ONE:) After that I would.
Mine have been out in the runs all day too with iced bottles in for them to lie against. This morning I had to go out so fans were on in the shed boy was it hot today. Tomorrow is going to be hot too. I was just saying this morning got I hope they will be ok with the heat I had towels at the ready. go and get that drink hunny you deserve it:))

i knew what to do but when it happened i totally panicked, and without everyones help on here I would probably have done the wrong thhing. I'm still a bit wired from the adrenalin. I thought heat, but then i thought oh god what if it isn't and i give him a chill. he seems quite okay now just chilling in his pen. he's our lion and it was horrible seeing him look so vulnerable.

We can't thank everyone enough

Jane and Rob

we've been doing the iced bottles in their inside pens all week, and they have cooler mats (the ones for chinnys). I pinned what to do incase of heat stroke on the pinbord in the pigs room with a teatowel and a teaspoon for waterfeeding. So i was prepared, But for some reason I thought they wouldn't need them ioutside. lesson learnt. thank goodness it was a good outcome
