Hi all,
My boy Sheldon had a scab on his lip which I’ve been cleaning off, however when getting him out tonight I found that his mouth was full of a substance, I’m pretty sure it’s boar glue ( pic attached). He lives with his brother Leonard but should I separate them? They bicker at times and Leonard is the dominant, but never anything more than a bit of rumbling and humping. Please help as I’m petrified, if that had solidified he would have died

My feeling is don’t separate.
I appreciate that that is a scary situation but their bond isn’t in trouble to warrant separation; and this situation may never occur again.

If you were to separate, at what point would you feel comfortable to try to put them back together?
Separating them could end up having to be a permanent situation so it’s something to really consider carefully

I’d really rather not separate as they do love each other, I’m just so scared of what might have happened if it had set :(

Hi

Please take a deep breath.

Boars masturbate, so it is actually be more likely his own boar glue than his mate's. Any separation or risk of fall-out would be pointless in view of this fact. While it is gross, it is definitely not worth panicking over and most decidedly not worth risking your boar bond.

The boar glue will come off and out on its own. Some teenagers can produce quite a lot of semen fluid during their hormone spikes but it is part of living with boars.

Phew thank you. I just panicked a bit because I’ve had boar glue stuck in piggie fur before and it’s set like superglue, I just had visions of it setting and gluing his mouth shut :( I’ve had a lot of experience with boar glue stuck in various places on my boys as I’ve only ever had lads but this was definitely a first! Sorry for having a wobble, I’m so happy they don’t have to be separated, Leonard and Sheldon do love each other apart from Leonard humping Sheldon when he’s feeling particularly mannish 🤣

Believe me, I’ve had several differentneutered boars living with sows over the years and they have still managed to get boar glue on themselves (often the nose!) and on their bedding, etc. Boar glue is just a fact of life when you keep these gorgeous piggies.

My Nerys (in the picture on the left) once sported a very nice big lump of boar glue all over her nose for several days before it fell off... Neutered boars may not be quite as prolific as full teenage boars, but they can still produce the goods in places you'd rather not have too vivid an imagination for! :D

All the best for your two boys.

I’ve got 8 boys too! All rescued :) I’ve had 15 over the years, so am no stranger to boar glue or the dreaded sperm rods 🤣 also a master at getting impaction out! This just floored me, never seen it in the mouth before, I must’ve caught him in the act 🤣 I’ve told him to stop being a teenager and fiddling with himself, gave his poor ma a heart attack 🤣
