does anyone else have guineapigs that turn their head upside down to drink water? Ruby and Maggie twist their heads to drink water, often ending up with their heads upside down.
What does this mean? Is it harmful to their spines? They both walk ok and can drink, but why do they feel the need to do this? Their cagemates don't do this, so I would imagin it's nothing to do with the hight of th bottle. x

Hi Claire,

Perhaps the water bottle is just a little bit too low down for them, notch it up a couple of cm and see how they get on then. I did this with the rabbits as I forgot they are bigger than pigs!...lol mallethead

It's wierd as both pairs have one that does it, and one who doesn't. {:| I will try it though x

Some of mine do this sometimes and contort themselves into odd positions at the hay rack also regardless of height i sometimes wonder if they're worried they'll miss something if they don't look behind them, nosey little piggies:{

LOL! That's a good point, but they still look in the same direction when they're twisted! OOPS {:|rolleyes?/:...:{
