my neice come round who is 4 and wanted to hold basil so i let her but she held him on her chest with hands round his belly. and he never wheek but gave a cry out i think she was holding him to tight and he twisted himself half round and tried to come to me so i got him and i got a right telling off he was near my face talking to me lol do any ones esle piggies like being held by other people mine dont plus mine have a habbit of being held by daughter or partner then they come across to me and both piddle on me and its like an ocean that comes out i dont know where they hold it inbreeding

At age four, I would not let a child hold a piggy - I'd only let them stroke it while it's sittlig on their lap or while I hold it!

Mine do not like being stroked or held by strangers, but the more laid back ones won't wiggle or complain!

My BF let his mate's 3 year old pick Hoggle up and I went mad (once the child had gone of course ;) ) - I wouldn't or couldn't trust a child with something so delicate and precious. :)

He will get over it after some veg has come his way. ;)

As far as liking being held by other people it in my experience it depends on the personality of the pigs. I have three pigs, one that is a socialite and loves to meet new people, one that will tolerate other people and be friendly, and one that makes it clear that she is a strictly me only piggy.

I have a 3 year old who is allowed to have ours on their lap for a smooth and to give a treat to but she's not allowed to pick up. Neither is my 7 year old actually.

Some children can be very good, it all depends on the child.
Poor Basil :)) give him lots of treats and he'll forgive you xx

We have my partners 10 year old girl stay with us regularly and even after showing her hold to pick up and hold a few times she didnt get it! so now I put the piggies on her lap on a blankie with her on the floor so even if they do fall off they only have a few inches (which none have as I am standing over her like a hawk!) this is also nicer for her as they then explore the piggie blankie
I dont rehome to homes with kids under 7 and the parents have got to be piggie people and be able to pick the pigs up and hold.

My friends three year old daughter had my friendliest piggie on her lap for a few minutes once, and she was allowed to feed him some grass. I wouldn't have wanted her to pick him up, I think physically childrens hands are too small to provide adequate support. My partner was sat with her while she strocked and helped her too. I felt ok about it, especially with my partner watching over closely.
Generally my boys are better behaved with strangers! They're all cute and sleepy when my parents have lap time with them! When I have them out sometimes they can't wait to get away!
xx

We found out our dearly departed Hughie didn't like being held by anyone but us, by accident. My best friend was here one day and I asked if she could hold him why I cleaned out his cage, well as soon as I put him on her knee he screamed and screamed, bless her she went as white as a sheet and kept saying I didn't do anything take him back, repeatedly. As soon as I picked him up, dead silence then purring, honestly he was a darling but not a multi person piggie.

I have to agree,my own daughter is four next week and there is no way id ever let her hold any of my pigs.
Kids also do not understand how firm to hold a piggy usually they squeeze or hold to loose, not a good match in my opinion,if i ever do start up a gP rescue i would have the same rules and the only exception would be truly GP orientated parents that get the piggies for them not the kids.
My pigs love me,OH,my daughter and my mum thats about it,when mum comes over they wheek there little hearts out as she brings food:(|),but when a friend of mine will hold one(rarely i might add as I'm to protective) the piggies usually go quiet and puff all there hair up.
