Hey everyone, an update to how there all doing, there feeding and drinking fine, only thing is there really scared all the time, is this normal? Me and my partner *** have them out for around 20minutes a day but all they do is riggle and squeel and when they do we put them back, any ideas?

All of my piggies took a while to get used to me and settle down, they used to scratch me to pieces at first but now they are far more settled, the youngest one will quite happily settle down on my knee for a nap. I'd just keep picking them up and give them time, hopefully they'll eventually get used to it and enjoy a cuddle! :)

Good luck.

ok thats what i thought they needed, should we have them out longer than 20mins a day?

Think cuddle time depends on the guinea pigs personality, my eldest pig Bertie starts to become restless after about 15 mins of cuddles, Pinky on the other hand would quite happily cuddle for hours if i let him. Maybe you could try handling them for shorter periods at different intervils rather than one 20 minute block, see if that helps.

Also let them hide their face in the crook of your elbow or under your sleeve...might help them feel more secure. I know that Garry does this when he's out for cuddles...he's my shy piggy who has been here since November 07. He either goes for my elbow or runs up to my shoulder to hide in my hair! rolleyes He's fine though once he realises he's safe and will sit for hours, sometimes even chewing on a bit of veg!

Mine do that too Minty. Like we can't see their bums sticking out. LOL.
I have found that feeding them little bits of veggies through the bars helps them to come to me and get used to the sound of my voice when I have taken nervous piggies in. xx

This is what i have been trying with my two and it does seem to be having an effect. They dont run away every time i walk into the room now which is good so hopefully with time and perserverance we will get somewhere! They are finally realising that mummy loves them and doesnt want to hurt them!
