Okay so long story short it’s been a hot week in the uk, I live in a flat so I keep windows open and curtains shut. On Monday I decided to put two frozen water bottles in the cage to keep them cool while I’m at work. When I got home, he was begging to get out his cage, he does like coming out his cage but his eyes were wide and breathing was fast. I noticed he wasn’t eating his food even tho he usually eats his food too fast! So I let him out. I put him back in and usually 30 mins is enough for him but again he was begging to come out and still not eating his food. Like he was spooked? So I gave him food out of his cage and he ate it out of his cage? Then after he ate I put him back in, but he wouldn’t settle. He wouldn’t go to one side of his cage. I changed his bed around and he still was freaked. 3 days later his only just started eating his food in his cage. He usually has bath mats in his cage but I put sawdust in there last night and he seems a little bit more comfortable. He usually drinks lots of water but he hasn’t touched it so I’ve been giving him water foods like cucumber and trying to give him the water by hand. He still seems very timid which is unlike him as his usually my confident one. (His in a cage alone for the last 5 months due to fighting with the other which lead to bites) since coming home tonight I’ve noticed his voice is a bit raspy and he can’t seem to scream for food but has ate some. He seems to keep weeing on himself which his doesnt usually do and Hasn't done as many poops. And also when his cleaning himself his hair is sticking up a bit. What do you think it is and what do you think I should do? Sorry for it being so long

If you are concerned your piggy is behaving strangely especially regarding appetite and drinking and poop and urine output, you really need to take him to the vet. Possibly he was just spooked by the frozen bottle you put in to cool him, but this could also be signs of illness- and if poop output is reduced and he is lying in his wee that sounds rather worrying and I would get him straight to the vet tomorrow. Hope he is ok x

Okay thank you I will call my vocal vets tomorrow, I only got him in November and he must of been 10 weeks or something but he seems so young too be ill 😫 x

Aww best to get him checked over by a vet to be on the safe side .. hope he is ok

All the best at the vets, he doesn’t sound quite right, good on you for picking up him acting rather strange though. Hope he comes back with a clean bill of health x

Hi!

Please have your boy vet checked before the weekend if possible and step in with feeding and watering support if he is losing weight. He sounds ill.
Here are our bridging care tips: Emergency, Crisis and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

Please do not leave any windows open on the sunny side, as a sun-heated breeze coming into the room can be much hotter than any temperature in the shade. It can and has sadly been deadly for piggies exposed to them, as some forum members have experienced. :(
Always make sure that you wrap a frozen bottle in a towel.
Hot Weather Management, Heat Strokes and Fly Strike

Some sudden noise, a fluttering curtain, a biting insect etc. can have easily spooked your boy.
