I started with woodshavings but found they got everywhere (found some in bedrolleyes) although it was very easy to just tip the lot into the bin.

I have swapped to fleece. My pigs seem to like it better but it is much more work to keep clean as it needs to be laundered. I found that the newspaper stuck to the bottom of the fleece in one of the corners so I have recently swapped to towels under the fleece. More washing but it works better so far. I use newspaper in the 'kitchen' areas.

I am big on recycling so I collect all of the poops and hay etc and put them into the compost heap along with the urine soaked newspaper. It was not possible to do this with woodshavings as they do not compost well.

Yer i agree with the recycling to hun mmmmmmmmmmmmmm think you might av a point about the newspaper sticking,

my lil piggies do seem happier on the fleece too thanks for your advice x

I use mostly shavings, but my skinnies have fleecy snuggle sacks, most cages have a hammock too. I transfer my preggies on to fleece in their houses, just before they are due, and for about a week after. xx

fleeces seem to be going well babies seem to happier an all snug:))

I use a combination of all these things really depending on weather and availability and ease of use at the min its nespaper and flece, tend to use wood shavings a bit more in he winter to help insulate more (as well as fleece/ towel) but its a bit messy, mine always get a mountin of hay for food and sleep lol in winter sometimes straw but thats not often i stick to hay mainly, just use whats best for you i say, and ull soon find outwhat ** guineas prefer !

I use fleece with newspaper and towels underneath and wood shavings with a layer of hay on top for the toilet/hay corners.

It is a lot easier and less messy to clean out big expanses that are covered with fleece than wood shavings.

cheers yer i agree it just depends what works for you as mine are indoors I'm liking the fleeces at the mo :))
