Today is the awful day that baby Crumbs has had to be separated from his mummy and he is one unhappy guinea pig 8...
He's 3 weeks old and 'piggy backing' (as my children call it) the other guinea pigs a lot! I daren't leave him in any longer as 2 surprise pregnancys was more than enough for me, and everyone on here seems to say that they're old enough to be seperated at 3 weeks.
He's wheeking non stop :0 We've put him some lovely veggies in and some teddies to keep him company but he wont stop wheeking and sounds really sad, one of the dogs is sat by his cage crying now too. :(
Can anyone please offer any advice how I can settle my poor little baby piglet?

a kiss goodbye mummy

could you rub the teddy on mum so it smells like her?

i think it takes a while for him to stop, but you did right in seperating. do they live side by side so they can still interact?

such cute little piggies :))

Owh :( poor little baby :(

Hopefully it'll just be a case of him settling down over time :( definitely keep them close by if possible.

What a cute bunch though x) !

I will do that with the teddy, I didn't do anything like that as I didn't know if that would help or make him worse. I was going to put the cage near mum, but again I wasn't sure if that would help or tease him that he could see her but not get to her. I have moved his cage to another room as they were all wheeking really loudly and that does seem to have helped as they've all gone quiet but I still feel awful. :0 :(

its the only downside to having baby boys and no adult males!

its horrible to hear. hopefully it will settle down but may take a day.

what are you doing with baby?

and I'm sorry but i had to laugh at your dog crying to sympathise with him!

Don't blame you for laughing at the dog, she's so funny :))

we've got more babies to sex and separate next week, we got 2 females and both were pregnant, as far as we can tell there are 2 more boys and 1 girl but these babies are smaller and its not as obvious what sex they are so we will be checking again. I've hopefully got a lovely home secured for 2 boys and if there is a girl I'll be keeping her but I'm not sure what to do with the 3rd boy yet, if they are the sexes we think they are. I'm kind of hoping they'll all be girls so I can keep them all but don't think that's going to happen.
There's a rescue near me that seem very helpful and lovely so I think I'm going to talk to them about it. I'm happy to keep him till he's got a forever home but I don't want him to be lonely so I'll do whatever they recommend.
