Pebble is about 8 weeks old now and I’ve noticed he has a tiny scab where his umbilical cord was. Is this ok?

Hi
I would not worry in any way. The cord has dried up and the last bit will eventually fall off, too. It is not always quite as neat as expected but as there is no sign of an infection, there is no need for any intervention.

If you still have concerns, please mention it to the vet the next time you take your piggy to them or see a vet if the area becomes infected (i.e. swollen, red and hot to the touch), which is frankly highly unlikely.

Thank you @Wiebke. Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks for asking.

Sadly, I am still tiring very quickly and am still not able to make it through a full day without a lie down - or I will pay heavily for it in the days after overdoing it, including with brain fog. The hot summer and the increased piggy support needs of the last few weeks have unfortunately not helped with my recovery in any way. :(

While I am very relieved that with the exception of my oldest in June (Morwenna), none of my own oldies have lost their lives during or in the immediate wake of the hot weather, several oldies have developed more health/age related issues due to the extra pressure of the weather extremes.
Their needs, my own health and my magazine job have to come before any forum activity until I have enough energy to go back to my old life.

I’m so sorry things are lingering so long. You are doing the right things by resting and prioritising the important jobs. Take care. Hope you are feeling yourself again soon ❤️
