We have 4 females in a 3x6 c&c cage. Uhaul pads on bottom, fleece on top. (extra uhaul scraps in the corners where they tend to go out of spite). For the most part they're about as litter box trained as it's gonna get (2 of them are 90% litter box trained, the other 2 are new to our family and they're about 50% trained). We're finding that the uhaul pad is getting soaked fairly quickly though (I know... mostly probably from the 2 new girls) but has anyone else find this to be the case? This happens even when I put like 3 layers in the corners.

Not too sure about Uhaul. I think the closest thing we have here in UK is zorb. But there are many who use ‘pee pads’ in high areas of (urine) traffic. If you have several you can change them regularly, hopefully that would help.

Would you recommend pee pads on top of the uhaul/zorb ?

Yes the corners get bad quickly in the kitchen/hay area, I don't use Uhaul but my liners have toweling underneath. I put extra thick liners in this area as well as thick pee pads on top and change them out morning and evening. The rest of the cage remains fairly good and lasts the week but these areas require a minimum of morning and evening and sometimes its both the liner and the pee pad in that area that needs changing.
I think it is a good thing because at least most of the pee is in one area, if it was spread out a lot then I would have to change out the rest of my liners more than once a week.

Yes that's what we are trying to avoid. Maybe I'll try to put puppy pee pads on top of the uhaul in the kitchen area and check them every day. Maybe this winter making some pee pads would be a good project. I don't know if I would want to put uhaul padding in the pee pads or try something else. Or just put microfiber towels in the pee areas.

You could use a waterproof mattress protector in between two pieces of fleece. That’s what I use as bedding.

Wouldn't the pee just sit on the waterproof mattress protector though?

I bought a couple of guinea dad liners and they are pretty absorbent, more so that my towel backed ones. I also use these underneath the pee pads in the high pee areas and they are great but I am not sure that it is possible to avoid having to change this area frequently even with the best liners.

I'm beginning to see that it's all inevitable 😂 So for now we have hand towels in the corners under the fleece, on top of the uhaul, and will change those out every other day. See how the week goes 😆

I imagine it must be more difficult having 4 piggies, I only have two so a lot less pee. I have so much washing for two little pigs! But its worth it.

We had them separated as the first time we tried to introduce them it didn't go well, that was a couple months ago. So last weekend we tried again and it worked out! So now we have a huge cage and lots of secret pee spots 😂😂 they're too cute to be upset about it in any way.
