Hi all, when I have revamped my old cattery and turned it into one shed/outside room it will be about 8" x 6". It will be insulated and have some heating but will only be thermostatically controlled to about 5-7 degrees due to cost. I was planning on having a c and c or open cage on a 150cm ikea table(so have storage underneath) but wonder if this will be warm enough or whether a commercial cage or a hutch with a run would be better. I want the piggy home to back along the shorter wall. Will the shed be warm enough. I was thinking of tongue and grooving it all and putting interlocking mats on the floor?

I think that may be too cold and will need extra heating/insulation. Guinea pigs generally thrive in the same temperature range as humans.

I imagine it will be warmer than that. The thermostat will cut in when it drops to that temperature inside. This winter has been fine and it's always been above 10 degrees with no heating but this will be twice the size that is heated now (2 sheds into one)

Back to the drawing board to work on the best combination to get the most warmth for the least expense. It's quite an area to heat. I'll have to jiggle with temperatures until I get it right. What do people do that have their piggies in sheds or garages?
