Just to give a background... Tedee and Polo are from a rescue lady. They have both previously been in other homes. Their approximated ages are 12-18 months. Unfortunately I was given the totally wrong advice by two people (who should have known a LOT better) on cage size and I got a 100cm cage (I was going to go for 140cm) ... I quickly realised that it was way too small. :hb: I've got loads of C&C grids and correx that should be with me now but the courier companies are being totally :cen: at getting them to me and I'm so desperate to give Tedee and Polo the extra space. When I do take them out for changing their cages or some play time they just hide or huddle in a corner together. When I take them out separately and put them on my lap for a short while they seem okay but not moving about much just a little inquisitive sniff here and there and if their teeth start chattering I put them back. I've also tried rolling out a long length of vetbed on my sofa and sitting back - still in reaction time distance (they aren't the Usain Bolt of piggies). Polo just sticks her head into a pillow ("you can't see me right?") with a big bottom hanging out the back or sits still ignoring any lovely treats. Tedee did go for the carrot tops today (I put them a little distance away) which was a very small step in the right direction and she's peed on the sofa twice now, so hope that's a good sign too. Is there anything else I can do or is it just a case of p-a-t-i-e-n-c-e? Thank you.

Aww poor little girls. I think you are doing all you can. Some piggies are very nervous and you do not know their background so who knows what they have been through. It has taken me two years to gain the trust of one of my rescue pigs yet she is still nervous. Patience is right. They will learn you love them in time.

Oh that's a relief. Thank you. I just feel bad that they aren't getting the exercise they really need. When I take one out of the cage the other seems happier with the space they have in it or if I take a hidey house out they like that too. Polo tends to sleep outside the house on a mound of squashed hay (they have fleece at the moment) so I'm wondering whether just to take the second house out completely for now as they can both fit in the cardboard house I've given them? Sorry, more questions!

They'll calm down soon, I'm sure! My youngest pig who's about 5 months is only just starting to warm up to me and I've had her for almost 2 months now. Today she took a piece of dill out of my hand so that made me HAPPY! Hahahaha!

Please do not be sorry to ask questions. That is what the forum is for. You will soon be getting a c and c cage so they will soon have space and room. I would not remove the extra house as it will give them space from each other.

Ahhh. We've had them over 3 weeks now. They wheek like mad at veggie time now... one cut of the veg and they're off! What sweet music! Now I remember Tedee did have some carrot tops from my hand this evening but Polo... nada! It's funny how they can just steal your heart, sweet little things, and you feel like you just want to get it so right for them. :luv:

Great. Thank you. :)
