I thought I should share this to prevent other loving owners making the same mistake as I did.
To keep my piggies nice and snuggly I made sure that the top part of their hutch had plenty of hay in it. The next morning I went in to give them their breakfast and the lazy piggies never even came down stairs ?/, I checked their ramp and it was fine so I thought they were just sleepy.
Forward to evening time and I opened the shed to see a wee row of faces peering out at me from the top of their hutch, all wheeking madly, there was also a bowl of breakfast sitting untouched.
I had been so enthusiastic in keeping them warm that I had put so much hay in that it had blocked their ramp and the poor wee souls had been stuck up there all day :red. So just remember that although you want to keep them warm you also want them to have space to get downstairs . Just as well they were sitting on a giant pile of edible bedding
