We recently took two boars from someone who had moved into a flat and no longer felt able to keep them. They didn't have the best start in life - they were a litter of 4 but 2 died because they were left with her ex-partner when they separated and he neglected them :-( She said the two of them get on fine but actually they don't. Scooby dominates and bullies Mogwai, chases him away from the food, always wants to sit where he's sitting so chases him away, tries to bite him, makes little chattering noises at him, and Mogwai spends too much time squeaking and running. We really don't have the space to separate them, and in any case we got two believing that they enjoyed company. But I suspect Mogwai would be happier on his own or with another piggy. We've only had them a week and they are still settling in. Is this likely to work itself out? I haven't had guinea pigs before so I'm not sure what to do about this.

from what your saying it sounds like both would be happier if you split them up,i think its the best option although doing that you would have to be prepared to get two more piggies(a baby for each boar),babies would be best as they are more likely to get along if you have a younger and older boar, rescues have tons of bubs so it may be worth thinking about,if its not possible to get more maybe thjink about dividing them by mesh wire so they can still chat although personally i think they should have friends x

Unfortunately we don't have the space to split them up properly and have four piggies in total :-( The only think I can think of to do at the moment is to try to rehome one of them and look for another companion for the other. I feel really bad about this as they have now been rescued twice in their lives and are only 10 months old.
