Gladys is just over 9 weeks old now and Elsie is 7 weeks old now. They came from the same home but different litters so I had Gladys a couple of weeks before Elsie arrived last Friday. I know that wasn't ideal but it's just the way things worked out. They share a hutch on the patio outside.

They seem to be tolerating each other at the moment and seem happy to share food but Gladys is very bossy about their plastic igloo in the sleeping quarters...she will not let Elsie go in and makes a loud brrrinng noise if Elsie tries to go in with her. Elsie normally runs round to the back of the outside of the igloo and waits there. Sometimes Gladys will chase her round there and then go back in the igloo. I'm assuming this is all a dominance thing and that it will sort itself out but should I buy a second igloo for Elsie so they don't argue over it or is it better to see if they can sort it out. ?/ It has only been a week so far.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Mine were like that too when they were younger - Daisy would never let Blossom into the pigloo but Blossom didn't appear to mind too much. They eventually grew out of it but since then my Dad built them a big house they both sleep in it - although Blossom still prefers to sometimes lie outside.

Will maybe take them a bit time to settle in together - wouldn't do any harm to have a 2nd pigloo though.

My girls had an igloo in their indoor run. At first they had one between them and were fine. That was until connie took over it. Connie would go in there and then when Eliza went in, Connie would push her out. When Connie wasn't in there and Eliza went in, Connie would soon push her way in and again push Eliza out. I brought a second one and now they have one each. Sometimes they will go in the same one but most of the time they go in one each and there have been no fall outs since.

I would say two igloos just to give them both a chance at hiding if need be

My boys have two pigloos, because boys are tricky I didn't want to risk them falling out over who got the pigloo. I have no experience with sows, but I think their more tolerable over that sort of thing., getting another wouldn't do any harm though.

Well they got their second igloo last night and it seems to have made things a bit better. So far they've explored both and although I'm often finding them together in one igloo it's good to know there is another one there if Elsie needs it! Thanks for the advice! :)

awww! Glad to hear its going well now. Ours have a pigloo each, Alice doesnt do sharing, she's a grumpy piggie! :))rolleyes
