Hello! Today I was spending time with my piggy when I noticed one of his nails in his right paw was a bit like, twisted to the left side, I got worried and I decided to investigate but nothing really answered my question :( I’ll attach a picture so it’s easier to understand, hopefully it’s something normal. I need to cut his nail)? Or something else? Should I be worried?

It looks a bit like it’s lifting off the nail bed? I wouldn’t be overly worried. Do trim his nails though. You’re lucky because they are light enough for you to see the quick

Is there a reason why it’s lifting off)? I just don’t want him in any type of pain or even loosing his nail. He has been acting normal and he doesn’t seem to be having any type of trouble walking or doing his normal stuff. I will trim his nails, hopefully this fixes the problem

I can’t tell you that I’m afraid. Bear in mind I’m making a guess from a blurry photo. If you’re worried then you can get him checked by the vet.

Hi!

Twisting, thickening or corkscrewing nails are perfectly normal as a guinea pig ages. Which way they are going is essentially genetically determined.
